DATAMIG Training School
Carrying out and navigating sensitive fieldwork
29 September – 1 October 2025 | Brussels & Online

The COST Action DATAMIG (Data Matters: Sociotechnical Challenges of European Migration and Border Control) invites applications from junior and early-career researchers for a three-day training school on conducting fieldwork in sensitive environments related to migration and border studies. The event will take place in Brussels (Learning and Innovation Center, Vrije Universiteit Brussel / Université Libre de Bruxelles) and online, from 29 September to 1 October 2025.

This hands-on training is designed to equip participants with practical skills, methodological tools, and ethical awareness needed to conduct research with actors involved in public security or border control; with people on the move, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable populations. More details on the workshops and instructors can be found in the attached Call for Applications.

Selected participants attending in person will have their travel costs reimbursed and per diem compensation to cover accomodation in Brussels.

Application deadline: 21 July 2025

If you have any question, please feel free to contact the local conveners Juliette Dupont (F.R.S.-FNRS, UCLouvain – Saint Louis Bruxelles) and Rocco Bellanova (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).
